MAC TRADE IN PROGRAM
- What is the trade in program?
When buying a new computer at the St. George Koffler Centre store, you can trade in your old Mac and receive credit towards the purchase of a new computer.
- Mac only or can I trade in my PC too?
Mac only at this time, including MacBooks, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, iMacs, Mac Minis, Mac Pros, certain iPads, but not iPods or iPhones.
- My Mac is several years old, will you still buy it?
Most Macs with a Core 2 Duo processor or newer are eligible for trade in. If you're not sure what's inside your Mac, drop us a line with your serial number and we can find out.
- How can I get a quote?
A technician can provide you with a quote in-person at the Koffler Centre, by phone at 416-640-5832, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. In all cases we will need your computer's serial number. Save your quote number, it's valid for 5 days even if the price changes!
- Is the program only open to OCADU staff, student, and faculty?
The trade in program is open to everyone, however new computers are limited to educational users only. The trade in program can still be used against other merchandise such as monitors and printers.
- How long does the process take?
We'll need about four business hours to test your computer; this can be done between Monday and Friday, 9am-6pm.
- What do I need to bring with me?
For laptops we will need a functioning AC adapter; for desktops we will need a functioning AC cord, keyboard, and mouse.
- What will happen to my data?
Once the trade in is complete, your data will be securely erased. If you need your data transferred to a new computer first, let us know*. Always back up your data!
- What if my computer does not pass testing?
If problems are found during testing, the quote will be adjusted to take into account necessary repairs (if your Mac still has AppleCare, these repairs may be free!) You will always have the right to pick up your old computer if the revised quote does not meet interest.
* Additional service charges will apply.
