MY COURSES COURSE CONTENT
Viewing Your Courses
My Courses automatically shows all the courses you teach along with the coursecode, section, duration and year. To view the details of a course, click on the course name.
When you view your course details the course outline, key images, downloads, notes and links are shown on the course outline. Students see the same information, but cannot edit any content.
Here you can easily view your course outline, key images, downloads, and summary views for the key images, downloads, links and weekly overview. Clicking on a link always provides more detailed or specific information about that item.
Editing, Adding and Deleting
Each section of My Courses allows you to add, edit and delete objects. Controls below each header allow you to control each section as you see fit. If you want to add an image, simply click the add button below the Key Images header.
Adding a Course Outline
If you have not already created a course outline, the system will ask whether you want to create one. There are two layouts for the course outline, default and custom. The default layout has predefined fields including the course meeting time, grading scheme and required readings. The custom layout allows you to put whatever you want in, adding bold, italic and underlined text, as well as hyperlinks.
Simply cut and paste information from Microsoft Word or other application into the text fields, or type directly into the fields. There is no spell checking provided, so we recommend you do so through Word prior to pasting the text. All 200 level design courses have default syllabus information filled in.
Once you’re happy with the material, click submit.
When finished with the course outline, add images, downloads, or provide more information about your weekly overview.

Allowing your Students to Submit Files Through the Web
Students need a simple way of submitting files to you for review or presentation that doesn’t clog your email box. Your students can submit files to you through the web. My Courses records the student name and time of files uploaded. Files up to 2.5 MB can be uploaded with a maximum of 30 MB of student files.
NOTE: IT Services does not recommend using this tool for submitting assignments. File Submission is turned off by default. Enable file submission by selecting Submitted Files, and click Enable. Student files appear as a list (like the Downloads list) on the same page.
How Do Students Access My Course Materials?
By browsing to http://mycourses.ocad.ca students can access the course material you have posted to them. Students can only view the courses they are enrolled in. Students who are not in your class cannot see your course materials. Student data is derived from the Registrar’s office, so if a student is not registered in your course, or drops the course, they immediately lose access to the course.
1. Browse to http://mycourses.ocad.ca
2. Login with your Student Email username and password
3. Select a course from the list of courses. If you are posted in a course, but are not taking it, please contact IT Help Desk, ITHelp@ocad.ca
If you don’t fill out a specific section on the My Courses like a note or assignment, it simply does not show that particular section to the students.
