ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADING
You can submit your grades to your Faculty Office online, using My Courses.
There are two ways you can do this:
- Give My Courses your final marks for each student. It will calculate the distributions for you.
- Give My Courses information about the assignments in your course. You tell My Courses what your assignments are marked out of, and what their weighs are. Give each student a grade for each assignment, and My Courses will calculate final grades and distribution for you.
Grading Using Only Final Marks
What You Need to Know Before You Submit Your Grades
1. You will be supplying a final mark for all of your students. My Courses will calculate the averages and grade distribution.
2. An ‘Incomplete’ grade means that a student will be submitting work after the deadline for submitting grades. You still need to provide a default grade-to-date with incomplete grades.
3. Mark a grade as an ‘Unofficial Dropout’ if the student stopped attending classes. The grade will not be included in the calculation of averages, but the student will still receive the grade indicated.
4. You can submit grades if your distributions are out of the target ranges, but you will need to provide an explanation of why they are out of range.
Entering Your Grades
1. From the course page, under ‘Administrative Options’, click on ‘Final Grades’.
2. The default marking method is 'Final Grades Only'. If this option is not selected in the 'Marking Method' dropdown, select it and click 'save'.
3. You will see a list of all of your students. Fill out the ‘Final Grade’ field for each student. If the mark is incomplete or the mark represents an unofficial dropout, check the appropriate box next to the grade.
4. You can save your progress as you go by clicking ‘Save Grades’. When you save your grades, the grade distribution table will be updated.
Reviewing and Sending Your Grades
5. When you are ready to submit your grades to your faculty office, click ‘Save & Submit Grades’.
6. If your grade distribution is outside of the target range, you will be asked to attach a message explaining why. Type your message in the supplied text field. This field will only appear if your grades fall outside of the target ranges.
7. If your grades are you of the target ranges, you will be asked to attach a message explaining why. Type in your message and click ‘Submit Grades’. You will also see which grade range was outside the target.
8. Read the note on this page, and click the checkbox confirming that you have read and understand the message. Click ‘Submit Grades’, and your grades will be sent to your faculty office.
9. That's it! You've submitted your final grades.
