Overview
The ED-ID Model Shop (Room 517) provides the facilities to perform tasks such as model-building, rough conceptual sculpting, finishing and spray-painting.
- Model building: includes cutting of raw materials with power tools, sanding, and refining using small hand tools.
- Rough conceptual sculpting: includes rough cutting of raw materials using large power tools, and extensive refinement using rough carving hand tools, followed by refining and polishing using hand sanding tools.
- Finishing and spray painting: includes refining worked forms with fine sanding tools and papers using fillers and finishing using spray-paints. All tasks using toxic compounds are done in the spray booth.

Materials
Consumable materials can be purchased from technicians or class assistants during open studio hours. Please check studio and shop schedules in order to ensure you are not interrupting a class when you go to buy materials. Materials can only be bought using OCAD U tickets. Tickets can be purchased from the Cashier, Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Cashier is located in the Rosalie Sharp Pavilion, 115 McCaul Street, Level 1.

Large power tools: Table saw, small milling machine, large horizontal belt sander, large disk sander, drum sander, drill press, two band saws, wood lathe, polishing wheels for plastics, stand-up grinder, hot wire foam cutter, miter saw, router table, scroll saw
Additional equipment: Spray booth, vacuum-forming machine, downdraft table dust collector, plastic sheet bender, variety of electric shop tools (hand tools).
