Liability & Personal Property
OCAD University takes all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty and staff. However, the university must disclaim liability for all personal belongings brought to university premises. This includes items such as purses, backpacks and bicycles, as well as curriculum-related materials such as artwork, books, cameras, computer equipment and data. The university encourages all members of the OCAD U community to guard their possessions while on university property, and to maintain an appropriate level of personal insurance coverage to protect them in case of loss or damage. We advise our students, staff, and visitors to leave valuables at home and be vigilant in safeguarding your personal items.
OCAD University shall incur no liability for loss or damage suffered or incurred by any student or third party as a result of delays or termination of services, courses or classes by reason of acts of God, fire, flood, riots, war, strikes, lock-outs, damage to OCAD U property, financial exigency, or other happenings or occurrences beyond the reasonable control of the university.
