As Vice-President, Academic, Dr. Sarah McKinnon is responsible for the overall academic enterprise of the University, which includes the provision of direction and support to the Faculties of Art, Design, Liberal Arts & Sciences/School of Interdisciplinary Studies, the University Senate and its Standing Committees, the Centre for Innovation in Art & Design Education (CIADE), as well as the departmental areas of Library Services, Student Affairs (comprised of the Office of the Registrar, Admissions & Recruitment, Financial Aid & Awards, Health and Wellness, Centre for Students with Disabilities, and Student Success Programs), and OCADU Gallery and Exhibition Services. Broadly, this mandate involves academic planning and initiatives around academic strategic priorites in relationship with the Office of Research & Graduate Studies. Particular activities such as faculty professional development (teaching and learning support activities, sabbaticals and PD funding), faculty appreciation, international liaison, special events, etc. are supported here. The Office is also responsible for negotiations with OCADFA.
With respect to all of this, the Office of the Vice-President, Academic is accountable for quality assurance (IQAP Policy Administration), as well as financially sound operations and innovation. The position also includes liaison with the government and connections to governing bodies, including the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), the Association of Universities & Colleges of Canada (AUCC), the Council of Ontario Universities (COU) and membership in the Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents (OCAV).
