SENATE ELECTIONS
OCAD University Senate elections are managed centrally by the Chief Electoral Officer and are held annually in preparation for the upcoming academic year. Timelines for faculty and student elections are kept separate with faculty members and undergraduate students from each Faculty, as well as those students enrolled in a graduate program, being eligible to nominate representatives to Senate.
Elected Voting Senators
Faculty Senators
There shall be four (4) faculty members elected from each of the Faculties, by and from the tenured and tenure-track teaching faculty in each Faculty.
There shall be four (4) Chairs/Associate Deans from each of the Faculties of Art and Design, two (2) from the Faculty of Liberal Studies; and one (1) interdisciplinary studies chair/designate elected from the Chairs/Associate Deans appointed in each Faculty.
There shall be four (4) faculty Senators elected at-large by and from all tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Student Senators
There shall be undergraduate student Senators, elected at-large by and from all undergraduate students enrolled in a full-or part-time program, in such number as to ensure that the total number of elected student Senators equals three (3). No more than two at-large student Senators may be from any one Faculty unless there are insufficient candidates from other Faculties to fill all at-large positions.
There shall be one (1) Senator elected by and from those students of the University enrolled in a graduate program.
Election Timeline
Senate elections shall be held annually before May 31.
