Anda Kubis, MFA
Anda Kubis studied at OCADU for a short while before moving on to complete a BFA at NSCAD and an MFA at York University in 1992. Currently Anda is Chair of Drawing and Painting at OCADU. She specializes in teaching studio practice and seminar courses that engage contemporary ideas shaping art today. Before teaching at OCADU she taught at the University of Lethbridge and at York University. She served at Mercer Union as Board President and Vice President, 1999 to 2001.
To deepen her understanding of contemporary art practice Anda has curated many exhibitions and run experimental art galleries. Her curatorial projects include Red Carpet and Superplastic for Drabinsky Gallery, Self Help at Mercer Union and Alias, Alibi for Free Parking Gallery. Anda’s projects reflect upon the relevance of art practice in a consumer driven, media dominated society.
She is represented by Drabinsky Gallery in Toronto, Newzones in Calgary, Elissa Cristall Gallery in Vancouver and Tapper-Popermajer Contemporary in Sweden.
