OCAD board member appointed Vice-Chair of the
Chemical Institute of Canada
(Toronto—June 24, 2009) Dr. Hadi Mahabadi, a member of the Board of Governors of the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD), has been appointed Vice-Chair and member of the Board of Directors of the Chemical Institute of Canada (CIC), the university announced today.
The CIC is the national umbrella organization that unites three constituent societies, representing chemists, chemical engineers and chemical technologists from industry, academia, and government in Canada. Dr. Mahabadi will serve a one-year appointment as Vice-Chair, followed by a one-year appointment as Chair.
“Hadi’s appointment is a testament to his leadership skills and expert knowledge as an engineer, academic and businessman,” said J. Anthony Caldwell, Chair of OCAD’s Board of Governors. “I have no doubt that his new role with the CIC will also help to inform his ongoing contribution and service to our university.”
Dr. Mahabadi is currently Vice President and centre manager of the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC). Before joining Xerox in 1981, he served in various academic positions, including Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department at the Tehran University of Technology. A member of several scientific societies, he is a Fellow of the CIC and International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
