OCAD U welcomes Petra Kassun-Mutch as Imagination Catalyst Executive Director

Petra Kassun-MutchOCAD University is pleased to welcome Petra Kassun-Mutch as Executive Director for the Imagination Catalyst, the university’s student and alumni-centred entrepreneurship and innovation incubator/accelerator. Kassun-Mutch will officially take up her new post on Monday, May 6, 2013.

Kassun-Mutch is a former publishing industry executive and award-winning entrepreneur whose most recent venture, the Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Company, became widely recognized as a leading edge sustainable, social purpose enterprise in the food industry. Under her leadership, the company won more than 32 product awards, including several grand championships for its cheeses and several green building and sustainable enterprise management awards. These include the Guelph Food Technology Centre’s Sustainable Enterprise of the Year award, and the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation in 2009. The company was Canada’s first Platinum LEED certified manufacturing facility, and Canada’s eighth certified “B Corporation,” a designation indicating rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. Her company has been featured in numerous publications, including Fortune magazine.

Before joining OCAD University, she served as the Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Guelph, a role that involved teaching corporate social responsibility, guest lecturing on social enterprise and entrepreneurship, coaching aspiring entrepreneurs on campus, and serving as a “dragon” in numerous pitch competitions. Kassun-Mutch currently maintains a blog on the subject of social enterprise and entrepreneurship at www.zugunruhe.ca, and volunteers as a coach for several social entrepreneurs.
