OCAD U signs fifth university partnership agreement in Brazil

June 5, 2012

OCAD University has signed another partnership agreement in Brazil this past week.

The Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar) is a public institution with approximately 10,000 students. The university offers 37 undergraduate courses and 50 graduate courses at both the master's and doctoral levels.

UFSCar's Acting Rector Pedro Manoel Galetti Junior describes the agreement as representing an important new opportunity for faculty in that it will create new possibilities for research and joint collaboration. The partnership will focus on visual analytics, health care and design, as well as student mobility.

This latest agreement is the fifth such partnership established by OCAD University in Brazil, and builds on the success of President Sara Diamond's involvement with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canda's mission to Brazil earlier this year. During the mission, OCAD U announced its agreements with Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Universidade de Brasília (UnB), Universidade Anhenbi Morumbi (UAM), and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFGRS). The partnerships include two-way faculty and student exchange opportunities, joint research collaborations and opportunities for jointly organized scientific events, conferences, workshops and seminars.
