Industrial Design students win big at Rocket 2009

Yousif Devlin's design for "Multii - Take it and Go," designed to improve the experience of managing newly diagnosed people with Type 1 Diabetes by reducing the amount of equipment needed to carry around, help count carbohydrates and efficiently dispose of used needles while away from home.
The Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) held the 8th annual Rocket competition and show this past weekend at The Great Hall in Toronto. Rocket presents the work of the graduating classes from Ontario’s three schools of industrial design: Carleton University, Humber College and OCAD.
Heidi Mok, OCAD’s medal winner for Industrial Design, was named one of two Best in Show winners. OCAD students also won four first-place prizes in the seven award categories, four of the six Socially Responsible Design Awards, and several Reward prizes:

Heidi Mok's "T.A.G." (Take. Act. Give.) design, a clothing donation system for the Salvation Army.Work by the winners of the Socially Responsible Design Award will be exhibited at Toronto Pearson International Airport from May until October.
Rocket promotes the work of industrial design students, helping them to understand the process involved with successful product development; to make their work accessible to a broad audience and to provide them with a link to other young designers, industry professionals, and potential clients.
